Celebrating Girls: International Day of the Girl Child

Today (11 October) is the International Day of the Girl Child, recognizing girls’ rights and the unique challenges girls around the world face realizing them.

This year the theme is “Digital Generation: Technology and innovation as accelerators of girls’ bodily autonomy”. Let’s celebrate girls in the digital generation who are harnessing the power of new technologies to carve out a better future for all.

  1. I’m so thankful that there is such a day and that every year there are measures to ensure that girls and young women are recognized for their valuable contributions to society. This year, it’s all about digital equality. Girls and young women can and should be allowed to be techies just like their male counterparts.
