Broken Heart ©Dawn Minott

How many times can a heart break
Before it seizes to be whole?
How many wounds must one partake
Before it loses all control?

A heart can shatter many ways
With every loss and silent tear
In darkened nights and lonely days
The pain can grow year after year

Each crack and fissure takes its toll
Eroding hope with every tear
Yet hearts are built with threads of soul
Resilient through the deepest fear

But mending is a fragile art
A tapestry of love and woe
Each stitch a patch upon the heart
To heal the places shadows go

Though time may wear the spirit thin
And scars may mar what once was pure
With love and light, it heals within
And finds the strength to still endure

So count the breaks, but don’t despair
For even shattered hearts can mend
A broken heart still beats to care
And finds its way to love again
