There, by the silence of the tomb
His friend, laid low
A brother in the cold embrace of death
His heart overflowed with human sorrow
Jesus wept
He’s seen and known sorrow
A man acquainted with grief
This death ushered in a darkness too deep
Burdening His soul, strangling his heart
Jesus wept
His tears fell, mingling with the earth
In that moment, the world grew still
As if creation itself held its breath
Receiving the tears of the One who spoke it into being
Jesus wept
In His tears, a revelation unfolds—
That the Almighty shares our burdens
That Divinity knows our pain
That sorrow, too, and grief are sacred
Jesus wept
For every tear we cry
For every loss that breaks our hearts
For the moments when faith wavers
And the nights when hope feels afar
Jesus wept
When your heart is heavy
And your cries seem unheard
His compassion weeps with you
His compassion stands with you
Jesus wept
In His tears is the seed of resurrection power
A whisper of the dawn that follows the darkest night
For He is the Light that no darkness can extinguish
The Life that conquers all death
And so—
Jesus wept

Dawn, your poem is soulful, prayerful. I feel it deep within. And the Chosen–what a moving and memorable series. Doesn’t it bring Jesus to us in a whole different level?

Mary yes it does. The Chosen is Oscar-worthy. I fall in love with Jesus each time I watch it. I’ve watched each season multiple times!
Thanks for your feedback on the poem. Appreciate it

Beautiful Dawn. I remember my mother told us about the school she attended as a little girl that they had to recite a scripture in school that they memorized. She said that “Jesus Wept” was the one they could not use because everyone wanted to use it. 😁 But your poem tugs at the heartstrings my friend. 😊🙏🏼💖

Thanks for sharing that story. I’m sure everyone would have chosen it 😊
The thought of Jesus hurting and weeping tugs at my heartstring for sure. The poem was a manifestation of that reality.
Big hug 🤗
