Blog Milestone, 10K Views: Thanks!

You viewed Poems & More: CreatedbyDEEsign 10,000 times!

THANK YOU!

When I started writing in this space just under a year ago, I had one aim in mind—to not let my voice die within me unexpressed or unheard. I knew nothing of “followers”, “likes” or “views”. I just needed to speak 🗣 and be heard. And you heard me—10,000 times!!

Thank you. This is awesomely encouraging!!!!

Gratefully, Dee

The Sunshine Blogger Award

I was nominated by Grace over at Graceofthesun for the Sunshine Blogger Award.

First I was SURPRISED and ELATED then I was a bit perplexed because being new to blogging I didn’t know 11 bloggers well enough to nominate them nor did I want to do it just to check a box. So it took me a few weeks to get to this point where I can meaningfully engage other bloggers as part of the acceptance of this award.

Having said that, Graceofthesun is an eclectic collection of inspirational, aspirational, motivational and captivating poems written by the gifted and prolific Grace—she posts at least once per day. You’ll be spoilt for choices of great pieces to read and interact with. Don’t believe me?! Go see for yourself at Graceofthesun!

Grace it’s been a joy delving into your work and along the way gaining an e-friend. Thanks for the nomination friend. Now here are my long-over-due-better-late-than-never 😉 responses:

  1. What is your proudest accomplishment?
    Being a connector of people.
  2. What makes you laugh the most?
A good bit of comedy. Comedians have that “3rd eye” and I enjoy seeing the world through their comedic expressions.
  3. If you met you, would you want to be your friend and why?
Well yes of course😉 Not to toot my own horn but since you asked: I’m transparent—what you see is what you get. I’m honest and loyal. You’ll have a ride-an’-die friend for life.
  4. What do you like most about yourself?
The traits I mentioned in #3.
  5. If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Perish the thought!! 😉 Food is too culturally, ethnically, geographically and seasonally diverse to even fathom only one type of meal.
  6. If you can be anyone else in the world, who would you be or would you be yourself? (please explain)
Hands down I’d be myself—because no one can do what I do the way I do it and that would be a loss to the world.
  7. Who is your hero?
    Another hands down—my encourager, behind-the-scene-supporter, motivator, sacrifice-maker, unconditional-love-giver MOM!
  8. What motivates you most?
Being MAD. Yes, MAD—Making A Difference in people’s lives.
  9. What did you want to be when you were small?
A model. I turned out to be an International Civil Servant…go figure uh?!
  10. If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?
Do what billionaires do with billionaires’ money (cha ching 💰)!
  11. Would you say you are resentful or can you let go of things easily?
    I’m a water-off-duck-back kinda girl.

Another Milestone: 100 Follows—THANK YOU!

Today the blog reached another milestone—100 follows! Yippee 🥳

THANKS to each of you. I appreciate you so much—you’re part of the motivation for my writing.

From Mauritius to Macedonia, from Ghana to Sudan my words have traversed the globe connecting with people in places I’ve never been: how incredible is this?! THANK YOU!

I also want to send a special shoutout to two fellow bloggers: (1) a piquant cup of words who tipped the blog following over into triple digits; and (2) Ashok Wahi (@Musings of A Wanderer blog) who moved the blog from zero likes/follows with the first post “like” and blog “follow”.

And thank you WordPress. When my soul cries out for release and words are my only solace, I turn to you and I write!

BirthMONTH—Day 3: I Affirm Today to Speak My Truth

Word of the day:
INTROSPECTION—
to observe/examine your own mental & emotional processes

You have a voice—not just the sound you utter through your mouth; but the power to express your opinion and attitude. Be bold and confident and own that voice in your head. Your voice is the embodiment of who you are—your voice is your YOU. Speak up and speak out. Your opinion matters and it doesn’t matter if it’s from a unique perspective. You don’t live in the world the exact same way everyone else does, then why would your opinions and viewpoints be exactly the same?

Speaking your truth means first knowing your voice. It requires introspection—to examine what’s going on in your mind (mental check-in) and the emotional processes you go through. It also requires respecting your voice by not allowing yourself to be silenced or intimated; but, to instead speak your truth with confidence and grace.

Your voice is also your attitude and self-expression—the way you dress, your gait, the way you style your hair and even the way you gesticulate. Speak/dress/wear/express your truth boldly and with confidence.
