Abundance begins in the hush of dawn
The sun lingers, lower now
Casting longer shadows like memories on the backs of budding trees
The wind, a whisper, to honor the end of April
Leans in, to pause.
Morning dew clings to blooms like beads of sweat anticipating
April’s warm exhales,
It’s breath perfumed with lilacs’ fragrance

Praise ricochets off the fluttering wings of birds
Resounding off rain drip-dropping on thirsty ground
Restoration creeps in with the light of morning
Tender and sure as a heart beating into
Intimacy, rising in the stillness of twilight
The ache of what’s leaving dulls in the hope of what’s remaining—
Love. Love does not vanish; it transforms with the turning
And I, like the season, return to abundance

She’s growing up way too quickly. She’s always on the move and loves walking. We’re enjoying the warmer weather and have been spending a lot of time outside. Hope you had a lovely weekend.

Beautifully crafted, no question — it reads fragrantly with deliberate, considered thought and polish. But for me, it’s a bit too breathy, a bit too full of feeling without enough mud on the boots. That’s me not you. And not a criticism, just an honest response to a fine poem. The language is lush, but I found myself looking for something to whack me over the head — a frost-hardened fencepost, a sodden coat, a pigeon spotting a gnarly curmudgeon. Beautiful, sure. Just not the kind of seasons I live in.

I hope one day soon you’ll experience the kind of season my poem was talking about. One that does not whack you over the head but gently invites you into a warm embrace to sit for a while and take a load off.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you’ll drop in on a few other pieces and experience the peace and tranquility I try to communicate through my work.
Cheers 🙏🏽🌺🙏🏽

… lilacs are your favorite?! Sending you a virtual bouquet of lilacs and all the fragrance they come with. I learned there are over 1600 named varieties of lilac. Can you imagine a garden with all those in it?! Perfumes would be outdone!!! Happy spring Kymber!!!!!

My imagination was immediately awakened when I read the paragraph beginning with “P” as in “Praise ricochet off the fluttering wings of birds…thirsty ground”. What a rebirth!
