I’ll be running a series this week reflecting on ancient prayers recorded in the Bible and applying them to the cares of life today.
The Bible is filled with prayers—some whispered in desperation, some shouted in joy, others spoken in quiet trust. They were born in ancient times, but they beat a timeless heart.
I’ll begin each post with the original prayer, pause to reflect on its meaning, before sharing my own prayer in spoken word poetry.
It’s an invitation to slow down, listen, and let these ancient words shape our modern prayers.
So join me in this week where we’ll reflect, pray, and then release it all into God’s hands:
- Monday—More: The Prayer of Jabez
- Tuesday—Forgiveness: The Prayer of David
- Wednesday—Gratitude: The Prayer of Hannah
- Thursday—Favor: The Prayer of Nehemiah
- Friday—Deliverance: The Prayer of Hezekiah
- Saturday/Sabbath Shalom—Unity & Protection: The Prayer of Jesus
- Sunday—Praise: The Prayer of Mary (Jesus’ mom)

Many! We also memorize them but since my memory is quite iffy, I usually recite them in my own language.

Yes we have the same practice. I recall the words of Bible promises and prayers and pray them back to God. Not that God needs reminding but it’s a way to say “remember God, you said this or you did this before so do it again”. Have a blessed rest of the week dear Sadje!!!
