He’s gone
She called it timing
But his patterns spoke truth to her
Now she sees
He keeps access, but not choosing
Why keep giving him the key
Choose you
This Cameo form poem [7 lines; syllable count: 2 / 5 / 8 / 3 / 8 / 7 / 2] is drawn from a short story of the same title, written in response to this week’s W3 challenge and OLN at d’Verse.

life has so many stories in each one of our hearts… it is a process…. at dawn the light shows up

I love this: “at dawn the light shows up”. It’s begging me to write a poem.
Thanks for your thoughtful comment. We do carry our stories—some we make up, others we actually experience—but our stories nonetheless. We trust the process … “at dawn the light shows up me”!

Loved the poem. We should never give someone that much power, focusing on ourselves instead is important.

Beautiful piece.
The concept of dependency sometimes makes humans attach pathologically, making withdrawal difficult like a drug.
Love, friendship is like a drug. It takes courage, effort and brain rewiring to draw a line for whom there was previously none.
But what needs to be done should be done for therein lies the true freedom 🕊️

You pick up on a very important point—codependency. It does take work, as you said rewiring, and that is no easy feat. Therein Lord the true freedom! Thanks for stopping by.

Hey dear. Selma. I think it’s the question we all ask ourselves at one point or the other. Most of us over-give for a myriad reasons but the root cause is probably the same. That’s where the work of finding our “why” begins.

This is deep. Often, we give so much away out of a kind heart. Soon, we get depleted whereas we should have chosen and prioritized ourselves and our happiness first. Then, out of the overflow from investing so much in ourselves, others benefit…from the overflow of self-love, overflow of self-attention, overflow of self-care, overflow of good financial investments and good times.

Absolutely Benjamin. And we often make excuses for other people’s inadequate actions toward us rather than accepting for what it is. You’re right living in the over-flow should be our aim. Thanks for stopping by.
