After days of steady rain, the garden is singing with life—fresh greenery and fragrant blooms everywhere you look! I’m enjoying an incredible lineup: clematis, garden and creeping phlox, bellis, coreopsis, azalea, iris, foxglove, a rainbow of roses, Asiatic lilies, plantain lily, shasta daisies, daylilies, black-eyed Susans, hydrangeas, big blue, tickseed, gardenia, hosta, rhododendron, carnations, sage, catmint, lilacs, hydrangeas—and more surprises on the way.
It’s nature’s encore, and I’m here for every petal of it!
Orchid mom’s delight: these variegated beauties making my heart and home smile

Even though we’re well into fall the roses keep giving beautiful blooms in spite of losing most of their leaves. These yellow beauties cut from the garden for a minimalist bouquet hanging from a mirror

I don’t know the name of this flower but I chose this bouquet above all the others because of this spiked beauty. Mama nature sure does replicate herself like only she can—this looks like the land version of the sea urchin, doesn’t it? So I’m naming her the urchin flower 😀

Last year, my hydrangeas didn’t bloom. That was disheartening for a new gardener—wondering what I did or didn’t do. I shared this with you and received suggestions on what to do differently. I followed your advice and made the necessary changes.
As spring began unfolding this year, I watched the hydrangeas like a hawk. When the first flower heads appeared, relief washed over me—affirmation that my attention to their care at the start of the season was worthwhile.
And now, for your viewing pleasure, here are the first set of hydrangeas that skipped blooming last season. Enjoy!

There’s a rabbit that’s made my garden his/her feeding ground and s/he has made my lilies her appetizer, main course and dessert!!!! So there aren’t too many that made it to blooming stage this year. This one did …

Last year, I planted these two beautiful peonies, but they didn’t bloom. This year, I’ve eagerly watched them transform through each stage, capturing the evolution of these stunning flowers. Enjoy the journey with me as these must-see blooms come to life!

The sunflower may deceive you—it’s not a typical flower. Its petals, seemingly floral, are, in fact, disguised leaves, adopting a yellow hue to allure pollinators. Upon closer inspection, what you perceived as the flower is an intricate outline concealing numerous beautiful and delicate flowers, harmoniously aligned in nature’s geometry. Each small flower carries within it a multitude of sunflower fields in golden dust—a phenomenon termed infloration in biology. 🌻

Afterword: Hay(na)ku is a very simple poetic form and one of the newest. It was inaugurated on the Web on June 12th, 2003 (Philippines Independence Day) by Filipino poet Eileen Tabios (b. 1960). Three lines—L1: one word; L2: two words; L3: three words.
… and there I was going about my grocery shopping business, when all along the fruits and veg aisle are poinsettias of all sizes. What’s a girl to do when Christmas is her favorite time of year to decorate?! Well she grabs a couple of these little beauties to start warming up to full-on Christmas decorating.

It’s one of those days when my go-to restaurant saves the day—dinner is ready for pick up after a long tiring day at the office. They dress my bag with a flower every time, usually it’s a red rose or a sunflower. But this flower I don’t know.

Shabbat Shalom everyone. Last week started a “Dear God” post—“how do I know”. I think the first step to knowing is being in a frame of mind to listen and to hear and that comes from a state of gratitude. Today is another “Dear God” post and it’s a simple prayer of gratitude.
First, a throwback to the welcome post of this blog where I shared why this site is called “createdbydeesign”. I genuinely believe that EVERY creative insight and EVERY word I’ve strung together to form EVERY art that I have ever written or formed, have been offsprings of God’s creativity.
God is the source of all creativity and all art. And it’s from His creation and creative wonders that I draw inspiration.
I mean, it can’t get more obvious than ART being smack dab in the middle of eARTh.
God could have made earth black and white and we’d have never known. That would be truly bland. Can you imagine earth without art, that would just be “eh”.
Who but a genius artist could think of, design, then create extraordinary flowers that look exactly like animals, aliens, humans, fairies and other strange creatures.

Dear God.
Thank You for channeling in us a bit of Your poetic-artistic creativity. Thank You for the art unfolded in majestic mountains, breathtaking meadows, massive oceans, boundless skies and splendiferous birds, flowers and faunas. I am grateful.
Amen
Shabbat Shalom. May you find peace, rest and bliss in the creative wonders of nature that lead you to a state of gratitude.

When I saw these beautiful wildflowers while walking through the park, I reflected on Jesus’ parallelism between God’s care for wild flowers and God’s care for us.
Why do you worry? Look at the wildflowers of the field and how they grow. They don’t work, they don’t make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. If God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, He will most certainly care for you. Don’t worry, have faith!
After-word: Spring hasn’t officially started but don’t tell that to the flowers that line the walk path to my way home. Mother Nature is on her own timetable and I’m not at all complaining. Hope you enjoy these early blooms and poetic rendition.
Thank you for journeying along. First time to the site? Welcome! Feel free to “like” or drop a comment, I love hearing from you.
I’ve long admired the beauty of flowers that bloom in early spring. I moved from admiration to action and planted tulips and hyacinths for the very first time!! And now the first signs of life have emerged from beneath the cold earth. In my excitement this Haiku was born. I just can’t wait to see them all in the glory of their full bloom 💐

So we’re under a nor’easter with heavy snowfall. It’s cold but what a warmth in my heart this orchid is generating. She’s the first bloom of the season.
This golden ray of sunshiny beauty adorned my table at a restaurant recently. A beautiful part of the decor that enhanced the dining experience. Hope it brings some sunshine to your day today especially if you’re in colder climes.
Kaleidoscopic Display, between city streets Autumn flowers bloom
Smack dab in the middle of the concrete jungle that is NY City appears this rainbow array of floral splendor which stopped me dead in my track. I grabbed my trusty iPhone to capture this photo. It’s deserving of its own Haiku.
Presenting MsFoxglove, fashionably adorned in a lavender-polka-dotted-glove-like ensemble taking the 1st place award for the “most delicate” in the garden.
Reflecting on how wonderful it was to have a garden (my first). Thank you garden, you blessed me immensely this spring to summer and heading into autumn you’re still giving vibrant offerings.
And also for Cee’s Flower of the Day prompt (though there is more than one flower today).
Summer alive in Himalayan vale—flowers, Mountains—glorious
In 1980, Indian Government created the Valley of Flowers National Park, which in 2002, was recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This rich area of Biodiversity is also home to rare and endangered animals and birds.
So this was from early in the season but I’m already nostalgic for spring/summer. Here’s to pretty pink Azalea—pretty by nature. I hope she brings some joy to your day.
Walking through a car park and this beauty stopped me in my track and out came my trusty iPhone to capture her elegance. Isn’t she lovely?!
I’m calling her the “coral flower” cause I don’t know her name. Do you!?Please help me name her.I hope this beauty brings a bit of joy to your day 🌺
Update: thanks to botanist extraordinaire, Eliza Waters, I now know the “coral flower” is really Cockscomb Celosia. It does resemble a cock’s comb, doesn’t it. It’s amazing how nature mimics itself.
Earlier this summer I was strolling through a meadow looking for place to picnic and thought this spot was perfectly dreamy. No sooner had I settled in before bees started arriving. We cohabitated safely—me reading and they doing what bees do when they find a good flower.
With my trusty iPhone, captured this bee doing aerial gymnastics. As for the flower, I don’t know it’s name so I’ll just call it “purple mop head” 😊 If you know it, please name it🙏🏽. Happy Sunday!
UPDATE: Thanks to Eliza I now know the “purple mop head” is the Spotted knapweed (Centaurea stoebe).
They are an exquisite combination of class and elegance, adding beauty to any space.
It took me awhile to get the hang of keeping orchids alive and getting them to rebloom. Now that I have, I find so much joy in ‘raising’ my orchid babies.
I hope these bring a little joy to your day today.
