Before-word: There’s a difference between accepting someone with and in spite of their faults and accepting their bad attitude or abusive behavior. Love is meek but in its quiet-gentle-submissive nature there is NO room for abuse.

Loving you
Accepting you
All of you completely
In your quirkiness, your shortcomings, your flaws and all
Leaves no room for
Abuse with words or actions
In love there is meekness, kindness, gentleness, patience and there’s even forgiveness
In love there is NO HURT

All forms of violence is unacceptable. Violence against women and girls—purely on the basis of their gender—must stop now. #IStandWithHer
This is also my contribution to The Daily Spur word prompt, today’s word is abused and Fandango’s One Word Challenge, today’s word is meek.

Exactly!! Love does not hurt.
Love is patient, but doesn’t tolerate abuse.

Teaching girls and young women to honor themselves is key. No one is allowed to abuse them, ever!

Yes I agree. While simultaneously teaching men and boys to honor women. I think a synchronized approach will have a more changing impact.

that’s real knowledge you just stated. we can not just stand for one side and leave the other side untrained and unlearned. We teach women not to accept and teach men not accept… remembering hurt people hurt people… male or female

Exactly. You got it – hurt comes from hurt. Love comes from love. Synchronization beats any one sided approach every time.

Amen. I agree wholeheartedly. Love doesn’t hurt. Hate does. A person who abuses another is filled with hate.

Indeed. Indeed. A misuse of power (physical and otherwise). And sadly many women can’t leave (for a myriad of reasons). Sad 😞

Well said! It’s sad that we can mistake our acceptance of abuse as a necessary part of wholly loving someone. Thank you for your powerful poetry.

My dear Natalie, how did I miss your comment. Your thoughts are spot-on. I’ve heard women say if he doesn’t hit me he doesn’t love me. The miseducation, tolerance, acceptance and normalization of abuse is shocking. Thanks for enriching the conversation. Cheers, Dee
